FAQ

What are the health benefits of lion's mane?

Lion's Mane promotes mental clarity, focus, and memory. It is helpful for managing stress and anxiety, balancing mood and supporting natural immune defenses.

Lion’s Mane contains two special compounds that stimulate the growth of brain cells: hericenones and erinacine. Studies have found that lion’s mane extract can improve the functioning of the hippocampus, a region of the brain responsible for processing memories and emotional responses, which may play a part in reported improved mood, decreased resistance to the formation of new habits, and increased motivation. Lion's Mane is also being studied for its potential to help prevent neuronal damage by amyloid-beta plaques, which can cause dementia, Alzheimer's, and Parkinson's.

Lion's Mane can help alleviate mild anxiety and depression, reduce the brain fog that often accompanies long Covid and Lyme's disease, and help repair nerve damage. Lion's Mane also has strong anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and immune-boosting abilities and been shown to improve fat metabolism and lower the risk of heart disease, cancer, ulcers and diabetes in animals.*

How should I take the tincture?

The recommended dose is 1-2 ml every day taken in juice, smoothies, tea, coffee, or by itself. You will taste the alcohol if you take it straight. Shake it before you take it :)

Are there any contraindications?

In general, Lion’s Mane carries few risks and is usually well-tolerated. However, Lion’s Mane may slow blood clotting and lower blood sugar levels. For this reason, it is not recommended for people with diabetes of taking blood-clotting medications.

What is the fruiting body?

The fruiting body is like the "bloom" of the fungi, the part of the mushroom that you see above ground in nature. Many companies sell medicinal mushroom products made only with mycelium or the “roots” of the mushroom that typically grows underground. The problem is that these mycelium supplements contain only trace amounts of the beneficial compounds you’re looking for in a mushroom supplement. If you are looking for the real benefits of mushrooms, make sure any supplement is made from the “whole fruiting body”.

We are a small family farm - Jon, Lizzie, and baby Leo - working hard to bring you quality gourmet mushrooms and medicinal tinctures.

We grow our gourmet, organic mushrooms year-round, and double-extract our tinctures in small batches using only whole mushroom fruiting bodies, never mycelium.

We use only sustainable materials in our packaging and are in the process of converting our spent mushroom blocks to bodacious fungally dominant compost to restore and revitalize our soil.

Our interest in the mycelial connections beneath our feet, the fragile interdependence of ecosystems and interconnectedness of all things, led us to mushrooms. We are excited to bring our tinctures to you and value your feedback.
